12 km bypass

As the main contractor, we have constructed the road corridor south of Aarhus, the Giber Ring Road, also known as the Bering–Beder Road. This 12 km bypass connects the Østjyske Motorvej in the west with the Oddervej in the east, running south of Hasselager, Tranbjerg and Mårslet.

We have carried out all earthworks, drainage and paving operations. The project also included 16 major structures and concrete constructions, including road and railway-bearing bridges, all of which were built in-house by our construction department.

Additionally, we built 5.3 km of connecting roads, 6.5 km of cycle paths, three signal-controlled junctions, three roundabouts, two steel pipe tunnels, 13 concrete structures, eight stormwater basins and nine noise barriers.

Facts

Earth movement: 500,000 m³ of soil
Roads: 12,000 m of bypass
Base course (stabilised gravel): 410,000 m²
Asphalt: 540,000 m²
Concrete pipelines: 12,000 m
Drainage: 37,000 m of plastic pipes
Kerbstones: 9,000 m
Structures: 16 structures and concrete constructions

16 in-house built structures

Our structures are divided as follows:

4 element bridges/tunnels

2 steel pipe tunnels
1 for a cycle path crossing, 60 m long and 6 m in diameter
1 for a watercourse crossing, 50 m long and 6 m in diameter

10 in-situ cast bridges
The largest bridge is 50 m long and contains 1,500 m³ of concrete, functioning as a wildlife passage.
Six of the bridges serve as wildlife passages, with four designed for watercourses and two for large animal crossings.

Did you know?

Our in-house construction department built all ten bridges themselves.

At the end of 2021, our team cast a 900-tonne bridge, which was installed during the summer.

Fifty people were involved in the bridge launch, working around the clock to ensure the project was completed on time.
